Jangkang Dance ( From Pelilit, Nusa Penida)

Well, now I will share information about religious dancing of Hinduism which originally from Nusa Penida (Pelilit village, near Atuh Beach). This dancing just use a simple instruments we call it 'Baleganjur cenik' ( a little instruments of Gong). However, the sounds that sounding is big. The members of this dancing is nine persons. they hold spear that picturing their spirit to have fighting to the devils ( a bad things).
What Jangkang Dance is???Jangkang dance is as a symbol of the people to follow their nature melody. This dancing showing a mystic.  At the first time, it is based on the story of Jero Wayan Kulit in the past. He was a servant in Klungkung Palace as a pig keeper.  He put the pig food in the container that was made from bronze. He hit the container when he called the pigs to had eat. Surprised, the sound was good and big. So, he decided to brought that bronze to his hometown, Pelilit. But, he was unlucky. No man in his hometown accepted his coming. They chased him away from his hometown himself. Until one day, Pelilit village was attacked by the outsider from outsiders. Many people in Pelilit were died. Jero Wayan Kulit heard that information. He came to Pelilit and brought the bronze. When he arrived in his village, he saw only few people could stand. He was angry and hit the bronze for several times. Suddenly, the crab grass around him was woke up and transformed to the spears transformations. And that spears were killed the attackers of his village. The villagers were happy and said their thanks to Jero Wayan Kulit. For, their appreciation, the villagers made a dancing that symbolizing their appreciation to Jero Wayan Kulit.  The name of that dancing is Jangkang dance (symbol of the crab grass they use spears).

After that tragedy,  the attack was come again. But, it was from the devils which had a strength to kill people by used their magic. Many people were dying. Only few people could stay. For the last hope, they were pray to the god and the god gave them blessing and asked them to danced Jangkang dance again to blocked the nine wind directions which used by the devils to spread out the sickness. And also, in this dancing, they always have a screaming that refers to their grateful to the god and also as their spirit against the devils/bad things for the next future.

Original clocth/material from Nusa Penida ( Made manually by using hands)

Brothers and sisters, laddies and gentleman, here I will share about an unique material/cloth in Nusa Penida. Villagers call it 'Kain Tenun/CEPUK' The amazing one is they make this by using their own hands. May you get confuse about this. How they can finish it or how long they finish it? In Modern era, we use a machine that visible to make  a hundred/ a thousand of cloths/materials in hour. But, here, the maker of this cloth take the time around three until four weeks to finish only one cloth. So boring, isn't it? But, that is a naturally they do in their making.
The form and the size mostly in square size/form. It used when they want to have pray to the temple as a symbol of Hindu custom. About the quality?? whew, it is the best one than made up from the modern fabric (by using a machine). The colors are different based on what we want. They don't make it in mixture color  because these cloth is reflecting the custom of Hindu in Bali.
Where we can find it? Indeed in Nusa Penida only, especially in Tanglad village, Karang Gede, and in Karang Ampel. Perhaps, some of you being anxious to find it and see how they can make it by their own hands in good quality of cloth/material? LET'S ANSWER YOU ANXIOUSNESS BY VISITING NUSA PENIDA IN YOUR GREAT VACATION...

Cow is a helper/rescuer for a farmer in Nusa Penida

All Farmers in Nusa Penida ( My father too) are use the cows to plow up. They are not used a tractor machine for this. They don't know this machine, their life can be categorize so classical (Primitive). They often use their power to plow up and absolutely with the help of their cows. However, they enjoy their life even they far from technology.
Can you imagine this??? A farmer in Nusa Penida plow up their farm for one or more hectare just by using his cows. For, example, my lovely father. He flow up the farm one day full started in the morning to afternoon. In Nusa Penida, there are no wet unit areas. They just waiting the rainy season that started on September ( usually late until December). They plant cassava, pea, peanut and corn. Whew...so Natural I think...
How to command the cows??? if the cows should turn left/right, the farmers say 'Lok/belok( pronounce beelouk) for their cows and  fulling the cow's rope bound. If turn left, the cow's rope bound in the left is fulled and turn right too with the same instruction.  Incredible cooperation between cows and the farmer...Let's take a look of its natural !!!

Bali Relegius Dance

We may familiar with this Dancing. Balinese Dance in title of Sekar Jagat ( The World flowers). It is usually danced by Balinese people in their Holy days.It is refers to how we grateful to the God for his almighty blessing to the world, So, here, we (Balinese people) want to say our thanks to the god by presenting the symbol of the best flower in the world to him.

Atuh Beach in Flux

We can go  into the middle of the beach to see many creatures. Such as,crab, fish, octopus, starfish, in flux situation. It is look nice when we see a little coral reef in the middle of the sea. The villagers use this place to have fishing. And they called this coral reef with the name of Padasan (meaning coral reef).
Here, you can enter the cave. From outside, it is look small entering gate, but inside, it is wide. There are live many bats, crabs, and birds with their natural singing.
This is Padasan. Its body likes a turtle. In this coral reef we can find monkeys, snakes and any other creature. And in the north of Padasan there are stand a flag of Netherlands. No body can get this part because it is secret and has own story in the past. And until now days, no one who have braveness to get that part.
There is, the amazing god creation. The gate that must be entered by the fisherman when they done their activity. The villagers call it Batumelawang (Stone gate). If they past the other sides, they will get incident. The truly is no doubting, because it is usually happen when the fisherman try to ignore it. The villagers believe that in the right side of this gate, there are a God palace ( only some people who can see it). So, the fisherman must enter the gate as entering door to catch the fish.

Here, I was come when the beach was flux. I looked some creatures such as fish, crab, octopus, cockle shells, etc as my dinner menu (hehehe). Almost all people do this when the beach is flux. And when the beach is reflux, we just go out. The wave is so big when it is reflux. And the biggest wave is showed in August to October.

He is my brother looks seriously to catch the cockle shells. There were a lot of starfish but we just denied it because we cannot eat it, except you are omnivore  isn't it ??? (hehehe, intermezzo).
